Sweetness and Light

Love the notes of brass in this living space — a little glam edge.

This week's links. Enjoy.

Retro and Pastel
Take a tour of the charming Paris home of Amélie and Christophe, furnished with vintage flea market finds and brightened with cheerful pastel notes. So pretty and fun.

The Artist is Absent
Interesting interview with filmmaker Alison Chernick on The Artist is Absent, her new documentary about fashion designer Martin Margiela, and the challenge of making a film about someone who's taken great pains to stay out of the spotlight.

Embroidered Dwellings
Absolutely love this great post over at The Jealous Curator featuring the embroidered dwellings of artist Stephanie K. Clark — amazing portraits of houses, trailers and more.

9 All-Natural Beauty Products You Can Make in Your Kitchen
Enjoy a luxurious at home spa day pampering your face and hair with lovely treatments that feature honey, milk, olive oil, tea, lemon, avocado and other all-natural foods.

What Philip Glass Learned From Samuel Beckett
Fascinating excerpt from Glass's new autobiography — always interesting to see what inspires an artist in their work.

37 Hitchcock Cameo Appearances Over 50 Years: All in One Video
Never blink and miss a Hitchcock cameo again — now you can catch every single one, thanks to this little video compilation of every appearance he ever made in his own films.

Brussels Sprouts Pizza With Balsamic Red Onions
I'm very intrigued by this recipe from Cookie and Kate — brussels sprouts on pizza? But having the sprouts on a base of slow cooked balsamic red onions really sounds sumptuous and well worth a try.

Moments of Beauty

An elegant flutter of saffron yellow to add bright colour to your day. Beautiful photo by Sølve Sundsbø.

Artful Living

Artist Evalajka, husband John and their two daughters live in a Christianshavn, Denmark loft apartment that is as much a gallery as it is a home — everywhere there is art, by Evalajka and by other artists. Love this creative space. More here on Femina.

Simple Pleasures

Exploring a new city. This lovely photo of the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris — which we walked through every morning while we were there — has me longing to go back.

Studio Life

Built in 1924, this modernist building had long been empty and abandoned when photographers Bèla Adler and Salvador Fresneda were shown it by a promoter friend. Its central city location, high ceilings, natural light and space were exactly what they were looking for as somewhere to both live and work. Their collection of vintage furniture, artwork and striking colour choices definitely make this a vibrant, creative and welcoming place to be. More here on Elle Decor España.

Atelier: Anne Ten Donkelaar

Today I'm admiring the delicately beautiful work of Dutch artist Anne Ten Donkelaar, who creates exquisite Flower Constructions, three dimensional collages made from pressed flowers and cut out flower pictures. Gorgeous. See more on her website here.

A Villa in Tuscany

The Villa Vergelle in Tuscany is my idea of the perfect space to get away from it all. Located in the countryside, sheltered by pine and cypress trees, with a pool to take the edge off a hot afternoon, it's truly an idyllic retreat — and can be rented, too. Find out more here. Via Mad and Bolig.

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. Our chilly and rainy weather makes a little café haunting and used bookstore browsing look like a good idea here...

Rustic French Style

Antique dealer Élodie Sire lives in a lovely late 19th century house in the small French town of Dieppe, just 200 metres away from the famous beach. Here, her collection of vintage objects and furniture, sourced from northern France and Belgium, is beautifully set off by its elegant surroundings. Love her inspired use of colour, too. More here on Nuevo Estilo.

Have a magical weekend.
