Simple Pleasures
It's around this time of year, in the later stages of winter, that I find myself really craving the colour of nature. Being in the produce section of the grocery store right now is like a promise of warmer and greener days to come.

Mid Century in Madrid
Light-filled and airy, this Madrid apartment in an 1809 building is actually a lot smaller than it looks. Last renovated in the early 1970s, owner and mid century design fan Fernando Garcia called his longtime friend, interior designer Erico Navaso, for help in organizing the layout of his new home. Poky interior walls were removed, the original shutters for the windows were found and reinstalled and the yellowed pine floorboards were softened with bleach. Throughout, Fernando's ever changing collection of 50s design can be seen, its elegant lines a perfect contrast to the renovated space. Love. More here on Architectural Digest.

An Artist's Studio in Paris
Located in the heart of the Montparnasse Vavin district in Paris, this lovely former artist's studio is in a building that once housed Picasso, Brancusi, Giacometti and other giants of the arts. Gently restored, it continues to fulfill its true calling as a studio — its current owner, born into a family of artists, herself works in clay, wax and plaster. So nice to see this lovely atelier continue to thrive as a creative space. More here on Côté Maison.

Industrial Chic in Milan
Admiring the refined industrial style of architect Marco Vido's Milan loft home and office — cool concrete greys and stainless steel are strikingly contrasted with black accents and honey-toned wood. The huge original factory windows are another outstanding feature, too. Stunning.
