Simple Pleasures

A perfect red lipstick. The hair is pretty great, too. Photo of Michelle Williams by Peter Lindbergh for Louis Vuitton.

A Palace Gallery and Home

A newly restored 15th century palace in the province of Girona, Spain, is now an art gallery and weekend home. Called the Palau de Casavells, the restoration by partners Jacobo Valenti and Luis Sendino took four years — with stunning results. Furnished with antiques, mid century classics and a revolving array of contemporary art and photography, it's a truly beautiful space bridging old and new. More here on The D Pages.

Atelier: Elodie Antoine

Love this Surrealist-inspired All Seeing Eye button shirt by artist Elodie Antoine. Read an interview with Elodie about her creation over at AnOther here.

A welcoming mix of old and new, to start your week with a little inspiration. Have a lovely one.

A Minimalist Loft

This beautiful minimalist loft in the Tribeca area of New York is pretty much perfection. The home of Danish-born designer Søren Rose, its austere beauty allows the original architecture and furnishings to really be appreciated — not to mention the glorious natural light that floods the entire space. Love.

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. Summer is making a surprise final appearance over the next few days, so we'll be out to enjoy it while it lasts. How about you?

Italian Modern

Debra over at DustJacket Attic was admiring these images from B&B Italia's catalogue — and I was so smitten in turn that I had to share them here with you. Stunning.

Carmen Dell'Orefice in Bazaar Thailand
The extraordinary Carmen Dell'Orefice is in the latest issue of Bazaar Thailand, looking as stunning as ever. At age 83, she's been modelling for almost 7 decades, and makes it all look utterly effortless.

Best Illustrated Books
Grace over at Design*Sponge has a great round up of 5 illustrated books for fall that look wonderful. So nice to see that people love beautiful illustrations still.

Busby Berkeley's Dancers
Wonderful series of still photos from the 1930s of film director and musical choreographer Busby Berkeley's extraordinarily elaborate musical production numbers in his movies, often involving complex geometric patterns. Love his work.

109 Free Modern Art Books
Exciting news for art lovers — the Guggenheim has just put 109 modern art books online for free. Follow the link for details.

8 of the Latest Face Masks for All Needs
The beauty editors over at Harper's Bazaar check out the latest hydrating, brightening, anti-aging and pore-refining masks and report back on the results.

Rosemary and Onion Focaccia Bread
A lovely flavour-filled bread to make from scratch. Nothing like the aroma of baking bread on a crisp fall day.

Moments of Beauty

Autumnal beauty and warm knits in Iceland. Love the rich tones of blue and green in this.

California Chic

A beautiful balance of modern and farmhouse, clothing designer Jenni Kayne's elegant Los Angeles home is also easygoing — a space that she, her husband, their two young children and Labradoodle puppy can all enjoy. Love. More here on One King's Lane.

Simple Pleasures

A well stocked personal library.

Fresh in Helsinki

The historic 1928 Helsinki apartment of designer and architect Joanna Laajisto and photographer Mikko Ryhänen was an opportunity for them to truly make it exactly how they wanted it for their family. Carefully restored to leave it as untouched as possible, it's now a great relaxed space of modern pieces against a traditional background. More here on Living Corriere.
