Bookshelf: A History of Food in 100 Recipes

Fascinating, funny and packed with interesting asides, A History of Food in 100 Recipes by culinary expert William Sitwell is a wonderful narrative history of food through 100 recipes, from ancient Egyptian bread to modernist cuisine. I'm really enjoying this one — it's perfect for dipping into here and there as the mood takes you, or from cover to cover if you're so inclined, too. Highly recommended.
