Moments of Beauty

Hair as accessory. Love how the delicately soft hues of this portrait contrast with the strong graphic quality of the composition. So great. Model Jordyn Grae photographed by Emily Soto.

New York Minimalism

This beautiful Greenwich Village apartment renovation by architects Brian Messana and Toby O'Rorke of Messana O'Rorke is an elegant synthesis of American minimalism old and new — there's a hint of New England style as well as more modern influences. Love this wonderfully calm and serene space. More here on Living.

The Listening Booth: Spring

Welcome to The Listening Booth, a regular series of posts that features a guest musician, DJ or music devotee sharing their current three favourite songs with automatism readers. Today's Listening Booth is hosted by the brilliantly talented and lovely DJ Rachel Thera. Enjoy.

About Rachel

Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Rachel DJs around town under her creative nom de plume Lamb Rabbit, as well as with a lady-DJ collective she co-founded called The Girlfriends.

You can find some of Rachel's mixes here

Rachel's Three Picks

A dollop of psych, a drizzle of folk, one foot in front of the other and we'll burst onto warmer plains soon enough. These hymns have been repeatedly whirring around my platter and, as I wait for Ottawa to thaw, I'm convinced that it's because they each whisper of transition in their own way.

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. We'll be catching up with a movie or two, making a visit to our favourite coffee place and enjoying a stroll around the neighborhood — how about you?

Recently I've kept coming across the beautiful paintings of Hyunmee Lee, and just had to share a few of my favourites. Lyrical, lovely abstract work.
