An Eye For Detail

The apartment of photographer Therese Winberg and her husband Oskar Ture is a perfect showcase for her wonderful eye for details — all set off with touches of colour and texture, plus a vintage industrial piece or two to give it an edge. The trompe l'oeil kitchen floor shows off another facet of Therese's creativity, as it was entirely hand painted by her. So fun. Via Plaza.

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. The weather promises to be a wild and blustery mix of rain and snow, so we'll be staying cosy indoors and catching up with books and movies. How about you?

Atmosphere in Paris

An interior design consultant as well as furniture designer, Florence Baudoux's lovely home, a Haussmanian townhouse built in the 1870's for the Comtesse de la Tour du Pin, is a richly atmospheric setting for her work. Love. More here on Homelife.

Sweetness and Light

Fresh colour to brighten an early spring day — and a hint at this week's Buffet recipe, too.

This week's links. Enjoy.

First Listen: Thievery Corporation's Saudade
The lovely latest album from electronica duo Thievery Corporation, with delicately melancholy Brazilian influences — have a listen to it in full courtesy of NPR.

Modern Home in a California Resort Town
What was once a storied 1980's party house is now a sleek modern space with great mid-century accents and spectacular views. Follow the link to see a slide show.

StopMo Studio
The always wonderful National Film Board of Canada has just released a fantastic stop-motion animation application for iPad. Called StopMo Studio, it's designed for use by both casual and pro users alike — and right now it's available for a special launch price of just $0.99.

Legendary Women Art Dealers
Great art history lesson over at ArtNet about the lives and accomplishments of some of the greatest woman gallerists, patrons and personalities of the New York art scene.

Wes Anderson Palettes
Fun for those who are both interior design and Wes Anderson fans — a Tumblr dedicated to the visualization of colour palettes in Wes Anderson films. Via Laughing Squid.

This Is What 80 Looks Like
Great NYT profile of Gloria Steinem as she turns 80. For her birthday she's planning to go to Botswana so she can ride elephants. So inspiring.

Top Ten Books About Intelligent Animals
Interesting list of books ranging from Animal Farm to The Wind in the Willows, all featuring intelligent animals that serve as a reflection of the strengths and frailties of the human condition.

Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi With Fresh Peas
A lovely dish from Sweet Paul that's perfect for spring. Asparagus would be a nice with this, too.

Moments of Beauty

Fresh flowers and citrus greens — a promise of spring to come. Model Paige Reifler poses for photographer Stockton Johnson in the April 2014 issue of Elle Vietnam. More here.

City Oasis

A move from New York to Chicago meant that Robin and her husband could finally build the house of their dreams — and without quite giving up what they loved about New York, either, as their new Bucktown neighborhood abounds in restaurants and shops just as their old one did. Definitely the best of both cities. More here on Vårtnya Hem.

Atelier: David Bailey

Legendary photographer David Bailey has a new exhibition of his work at the National Portrait Gallery in London, featuring over 300 of his iconic portraits. Curated by Bailey himself, Bailey's Stardust mixes images of both the famous and his more personal work, taken on his travels in Australia, Delhi and the Naga Hills. A must see if you're in London. The exhibition runs from February 6 to June 1, 2014. More from the show here.

Catwalk Cool

The apartment of French model and musician Caroline De Maigret is the ultimate in bohemian cool — both music studio as well as home to Caroline and her partner Yarol Poupard, it's a wonderfully eclectic mix of vintage furniture, music instruments, Chanel accessories and vinyl records. Love. More here.

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. We'll be catching up with a bit of movie watching and (if the weather isn't too messy — it's been rain mixed with snow here) a walk around the neighborhood, too. How about you?

Brooklyn Beauty Rediscovered

House hunting in Brooklyn, New York, Liana Pai and Geoffrey Quelle saw past the sadly dilapidated state of this row house in Fort Greene and recognized its potential. With no working electricity, sanitation or heating as well as floors and windows that needed replacing, it was an opportunity to transform it into a dream house for themselves and their two daughters Mica and Ima. Love the results. More here on Elle Decoration Sweden.
