Space Age Chalet

Something a little different today — a chalet in Savoie that is very traditional on the outside, and something out of a James Bond film on the inside. Interior designer Noah Duchaufour-Lawrance was commissioned by the owners to create a space that reflected his vision — and here you see the extraordinary results. Perfect for après ski parties. Eclectic in Paris

Art buyer François Leblanc spends much of his time traveling around Europe and South America preparing exhibitions for Gallery S. Bensimon. For his apartment in Paris, he asked design studio A+A Cooren to create a space for him that would mix classical and contemporary elements, allow him to entertain and be a private space, too. You can see why he's more than happy with the results. More here on Marie Claire Maison.

Modern Farm

A lovely old farmhouse in the village of Spannum, an hour outside from Amsterdam, is the home and studio of textile designer Claudy Jongstra. In this peaceful haven Claudy works with local weavers, who create fabric from the wool produced by her flock of two hundred head of sheep. Claudy then colours the hand woven fabric using dyes created from the plants grown in her garden. In her home Claudy has continued the idea of authenticity, retaining the farmhouse's original structure, livened up with contemporary touches. Love. More here on Marie Claire Maison.

An Illuminated Cabin

Built in 1862 in the village of Vedbaek, a port located about 20 kilometres from Copenhagen, this former fishing shack is now a peaceful home for a couple who have opted to raise their children away from the city where they work, so they can enjoy a quieter home life. They commissioned Danish architect Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, founder of the agency Norms Architect Copenhagen, to expand and modernize their tiny home, with an emphasis on light as a major component of the redesign. The extensive use of white, clever storage, minimal furniture and open spaces makes their house feel far larger than it actually is — even on the greyest days it feels light and airy. Lovely. A Tranquil Retreat

Architect duo Karin and Francis Leopold Fauconnet transformed a nondescript apartment into a serene zen-inspired space that flows from light to dark — pale-toned living areas retain their Haussmann ceiling moldings, while more intimate areas are in deep warm tones, encouraging calm and relaxation. The engineer client also wanted the latest in technology, but not on view — heating is under the floor and devices and switches have been discreetly hidden away. The result is a calm retreat that's still connected to the world at the touch of a button. More about it here on Marie Claire Maison.
