The airy Oslo apartment of architect Casper Mork-Ulnes and his wife, furniture designer Lexie Damner Mork-Ulnes, is a modern space nestled inside a Neo-Classical envelope — the couple have left the period details untouched while adding an updated kitchen and clever furniture that doubles as storage. Brightly painted hall doors and brilliant art and accessories add touches of colour throughout the space, too. More here on Dwell.

Set within a fairy tale garden, this lovely neoclassical eighteenth century villa on Lake Como in Italy was recently restored after a chequered history. Aristocratic in its origins, it gradually declined, going through several owners, partitioned into apartments, and then abandoned after World War II. But its lowest point would have to be in the 1980s, when it was purchased by a company that proceeded to tear out all the original marble fireplaces and windows, carpeted over the floors and did all it could to erase the character of the villa. Happily its new owner was keen to recapture its original spirit, while updating it for modern living, too — the marble fireplaces have returned. More here on Marie Claire Maison.

Conceived of as a living gallery, the Brussels neoclassical house of Ike Udechuku and Kathryn Smith is furnished with a selection of rare and choice furniture, objects and art — all for sale. Partnering with various European galleries, Ike and Kathryn live with the items, inviting collectors and visitors into their home to experience and purchase the designs in situ. Fascinating idea. Located in De Pijp, a newly trendy former working-class district south of Amsterdam, the home of interior decorator and exclusive Venetian fabric importer Rachel Van Den Brug, her husband Jean-Paul and their sons Rafi and Gaius is a modern take on romanticism, with baroque and rococo flourishes inspired by French and Italian classical style. So elegant and fresh. More here on Milk magazine.
