Weekend

Happy weekend! Have a lovely one. And a lovely, cheering space to spend it in—hard to be grumpy at breakfast on even the gloomiest morning in a colourful dining room like this one.

Love the subtle use of colour in this loft space—gorgeous. The stunning painting is by Erin Armstrong.

Moments of Beauty

Love this. Silent film icon Lillian Gish photographed by the legendary Edward Steichen, in an early colour rendering for Vanity Fair’s December 1932 issue. Startlingly modern looking.

Electric Blue

Admiring the stylish Paris home of interior designer Sarah Lavoine today, a duplex on the top floor of a 19th century house. Stunning use of colour—where others would have used grey or other neutral tones as a running theme, she's opted for an extraordinary deep turquoise. More here on AD Germany.

Sunny Mid-Century Modern

How could you not be happy in this cheerful, mid-century California home? Gently updated by architect David Yama of Yamamar Design and interior designer Alison Damonte, it's now a showcase for a great art collection—including a stunning cast concrete fireplace, made in Mexico in the 1960's. More over at Chic Deco here.

Sweetness and Light

Love how that delicate, celestial blue green wall colour contrasts with the deep bronze of the niche. The furniture is pretty nice, too.

Design For Living

It's hard to believe that the elegant Paris home of interior designer Didier Gomez was once a pharmaceutical factory. Located in the Le Marais neighbourhood, the 17th century building was dark and filled with machines when Gomez first visited it in 1996. But the high ceilings and possibility of a private garden convinced him to take it on—with these spectacular results. Love his confident use of colour and great art collection. More here on Architectural Digest Mexico.
