A Surreal Space

The 19th century Seville apartment of painter Chema Rodriguez has, amazingly, been pretty much untouched since it was first built. When he bought it, Chema was keen to keep it as intact as possible, relishing the cracks and chips caused by time — a window and two mezzanines are the biggest changes made to the space. A wonderful, art-filled creative space that definitely inspires. More here on Architectural Digest.

A Design Utopia

Several years ago Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of the renowned architectural firm Neri & Hu wanted to create a unique space in their home city of Shanghai — one where designers and architects from all over the world could meet to discuss architecture, industrial and interior design. In 2012 their idea became a reality with the creation of The Design Republic Commune, located in a gently renovated former police station built by the British in the 1910s. Comprised of the Design Republic's flagship store, a gallery, a meeting room, cafeteria, restaurant, bar and an apartment/hotel, it's a fantastic environment to foster creative thinking. Love. Mid Century in Madrid

Light-filled and airy, this Madrid apartment in an 1809 building is actually a lot smaller than it looks. Last renovated in the early 1970s, owner and mid century design fan Fernando Garcia called his longtime friend, interior designer Erico Navaso, for help in organizing the layout of his new home. Poky interior walls were removed, the original shutters for the windows were found and reinstalled and the yellowed pine floorboards were softened with bleach. Throughout, Fernando's ever changing collection of 50s design can be seen, its elegant lines a perfect contrast to the renovated space. Love. More here on Architectural Digest.

Ranch Style

West of Madrid, at the foot of the Sierra de Gredos, is the stunning ranch of artist and designer Helena Rohner, her partner Jose Ayala and their two children — and their beautiful horses. Love the meditative calm of this space, enlivened with vibrant colour. More here on Architectural Digest.

Elegantly Spare

When interior designer Cecelia Dupire first purchased her Southampton home, it was a small and rather dilapidated 1960's building — but it was its setting by the water, surrounded by trees, that really sold her on it. After renovations the final result inside is a luxe minimalism, one that serves as an elegant counterpoint to the lush nature outside. More photos here on Architectural Digest.

Rustic Minimalism

It's easy to see why decorator Luis Galliussi considers his tranquil Ibiza retreat his own little paradise — it's a beautiful space surrounded by a scented garden, a pool to while away the heat of the day and lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Perfection. More here on Architectural Digest.
