Montreal Via Copenhagen

Danish fashion executive Erik Rydingsvärd knew exactly what he wanted when he purchased a nondescript triplex in Montreal, Quebec's Plateau neighbourhood — a space with elements of his Scandinavian background as well as local influences. With the team of designer Maria Rosa Di Ioia and architect Emilie Bédard of EM Architecture, the result is a seamless modern space that combines details like the wrought-iron spiral staircase (an aesthetic nod to the neighbourhood's signature outdoor stairways) and a rooftop sauna — an essential for Erik. Great reno. More here on Dwell (and check out the before photos to see just what an amazing job they did).

Vintage Colour

I'm loving Sylvie Rochon's cheerful Montreal apartment, furnished with great vintage finds — particularly mid century modern pieces (something Sylvie has a real eye for, as the owner of Spoutnik, a vintage furniture shop there). With its crisp white background and fantastic use of colour accessories, her space has a fresh and contemporary feel — it all feels very modern, even when you know almost everything in it is vintage. Lovely. More details here from Style at Home.

A Clean Slate

When architects Paul Bernier and Renée d'Amours purchased this single family home in the Plateau Mont-Royal area of Montreal, Quebec, they found themselves with a clean slate — the interior had been completely stripped by its former occupant, who had then abandoned the renovations. A former butcher shop built in 1915, the proportions of the space posed a particular challenge for the team as it is only 25 feet wide. So they focused on going up and bringing in as much light as possible — the result is a modern loft that's surprisingly spacious in feeling, despite its narrow proportions. More here on Décormag.

Woodland Beauty

Nestled in the woods of the Laurentian region of Quebec in Canada, this lovely cedar-clad vacation home definitely fulfills the most important specification given to the architectural firm who designed it — that the surrounding trees be visible from everywhere within the house. Love how it truly harmonizes with its surroundings. More here. Via Nuevo Estilo.
