Getting your craft on. Making something by hand is something we do all too little of these days — funny how even the smallest project is so immensely satisfying to do.

Today I'm admiring the extraordinary high speed flower explosions of German photographer Martin Klimas, who created these images by first soaking the flowers in liquid nitrogen (to make them brittle) and then using an air gun to blast them into stunning kaleidoscopes of colour. Amazing. And if you're in New York, you can see a new show by Martin called Sonic at Foley Gallery, opening September 18, 2013.
