Simple Pleasures

Organizing your work space. I just tidied up my own desk here and, oddly enough, the holidays feel much more manageable now.

Atelier: Xochi Solis

Austin Texas-based artist Xochi Solis‘ work is an interesting mix of collage and painting — her technique involves layering each found image and wash of paint directly on top of the previous one, the end result revealing hints of each successive element. Love. See more of her work here.

Bookshelf: A Christmas Carol

Watching the lovely 1951 film adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol (the one with the incomparable Alastair Sim as Scrooge) is a holiday ritual for us, but reading other Christmas stories by Charles Dickens is one too — many of which are also ghost stories. Meant to be read aloud, these are wonderful to share with friends and family — perfect for listening to gathered around the fireplace or tree after Christmas dinner.
