Notting Hill Romance

This charming house in Notting Hill, London is the home of Esta and Richard and their three children. With the help of the decorating firm Retrouvius, after seven years living there they took the plunge, renovated, and now have a space that reflects their tastes — one with a midcentury sensibility. After being completely gutted and redesigned inside, their house now is a mix of the pretty colours of the 1940s and the cleaner style of the 1950s, furnished with vintage and flea market pieces — all given a fresh look with new covers or paint. Pretty and bohemian, it's a home that offers a relaxed approach to retro living. More (in French) here on Marie Claire Maison.

Interesting that they waited 7 years first. Which would have allowed them to understand just how the house performed in all seasons, and in all lighting conditions.

I love it, it's fresh and sweet, without being cutesy. Especially charmed by the kitchen.

Love the book tower .........have one of those next to hubby's dresser- really started as a new place to store books during reno, but it has stayed. also, love the pictures on top of the hutch. great pops of color, and i like them just the way they are....simply leaning against the wall.
