Happy weekend! Hope it's a good one — and with something lovely and self indulgent in it for you, too, like reading in bed.

They Draw and Cook

Oh, I so love this! They Draw and Cook is a blog devoted to showing off the beautiful work of creative people (illustrators, artists and designers) who also love to cook — I've selected here just a few of the gorgeously illustrated recipes you'll find posted on the site. Thanks so much to Mallory's beautiful blog Where the Lovely Things Are, where I first read about this!

From top to bottom: Butternut Squash Ravioli by Betsy Snyder; Vegetable Stock by Nate Padavick; Fennel Salad by Salli Swindell; Stuffed Portobellos by Esther Loopstra; The Lumberjack Breakfast by Steve Mack; Chickpea and Sweet Potato Curry by Salli Swindell.

automatism vintage

Exciting news! I've just opened a new Etsy shop called automatism vintage, which is where I'll be selling a selection of the books on art, design and other interesting things that I've collected over the years — and am now clearing off my sadly overloaded shelves. First up is my collection of Chic Simple books, but check back regularly as I continue to add other vintage titles — and vintage interior design magazines (such as The World of Interiors) on there, too!

Love these playful fashion/conceptual art pieces designed by Nick Cave (!), shot by Mariuccia Casadio for Italian Vogue. Via inspiration resource.

advertise on automatism

Interested in becoming an automatism sponsor? I'm now accepting sponsors for May — find out more about advertising here.
