Happy weekend! Hope it's a playful and creative one. I'm planning to do a little personal art project — I find that being an illustrator for a living can leave me feeling a little burned out when it comes to doing my own work. And Andrew is looking forward to doing nothing after a long week of deadlines and overtime. So, a relaxed and creative Sunday is in order — possibly with blueberry pancakes. How about you?

After moving into their new apartment in central Stockholm, Peter Schroeder and Helen Åkerlind decided to go against the popular all-white look they found there and add splashes of bright colour. Their choice of verdigris green, cherry red and the odd note of deep pink acts as an energetic contrast to their collection of traditional furniture and bright flea market finds — and gives their home a playful and cheerful atmosphere, too. Found this while browsing the Ariadne at home site — a weekend project for making a lovely simple headboard. The instructions are in Dutch (thanks Emma!), but with a little help from Google Translate it should be fairly straightforward — and the pretty photo is inspiration enough, I think.
