Black and White Elegance

The Italian architect and designer Marco Romanelli is always up for a challenge, and this space was definitely tricky — reconfiguring an 80 metre square two-room Milan apartment surrounded by corridors into a liveable space. His solution was to ignore the constraints and rethink the layout — the kitchen was converted into a bedroom, the living room was divided into two to accommodate a second bedroom, and the corridor now serves as a kitchen and library. With a minimalist black and white palette for the decor, the tiny space seems much larger than it actually is — and gives it a serene atmosphere, always a plus when living in the city. Very nice use of black and white to make a modern decor feel, and great use of a small space to make it feel much bigger!
