A Scattering of Jeweled Notes

I was browsing the always lovely Moodboard last night, and when I came upon this I just had to share. What was once an old furniture factory is now the London loft home of Sheila Teague and Gary Wright, who run the jewelry company Teague & Wright. There's something about the mix of minimalist white with intricate jeweled details in this space that I find really appealing.

This week's links. Enjoy.

Whites, Cream, DECOR!
I was introduced to this wonderful Flickr group by a recent post on the lovely Victoria's sfgirlbybay blog. It's right up my alley as it features interiors in all shades of white. Love.

DIY Felt Ornaments
The always fab How About Orange blog has rounded up some great links for making your own felt ornaments. These would make fun projects for kids, too.

When Bad Covers Happen to Good Books
I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one who finds a badly designed cover completely distracting when reading a book. An excellent argument for good book design!

Sketchy Santas
A blog along the lines of Awkward Family Photos, this one features classic photos of kiddies with Santa. Lots of howling wee ones, and some pretty freaky looking Santas, too ...

The Etsy Packaging Pool
An inspiring Flickr pool featuring beautiful packaging by Etsy sellers. A great place to visit for ideas on holiday wrapping!

Things That Go Pop!
Fun CBC article about holiday TV specials — the best, the worst, and the weirdest. I still love the music for the Charlie Brown Christmas (which almost didn't happen), and I watch The Grinch (the cartoon, of course — never the movie) each year, too.

The Rise and Fall of Design Within Reach

An in depth Fast Company article that examines why a company that began with such promise now finds itself in such dire straits. Via Design Observer.

Twelve Days of Holiday Sweets
Saveur magazine is doing a fun holiday series called Twelve Days of Holiday Sweets — so far, it's been Dream Cookies and Almond-Cream Tartlets.

Sponsor Spotlight: Holiday Edition

Make someone's December truly wonderful with these utterly charming Christmas au naturel earrings by Rachel of Lamb Rabbit, created especially for the holidays! The earrings feature two little vintage hand carved shell birds perched on tiny fir trees made from asymmetric clusters of green onyx, natural prehnite, amazonite, aquamarine, green aventurine, and little glass crystals — all hand wrapped on 14 karat gold filled wire, and finished on hypo-allergenic 14 karat gold filled ear hooks. Completely original and lovely, these would be a wonderful gift for someone special.

Attention New Yorkers — Jackie of the gorgeous Stone + Mann shop will be having a trunk show this Saturday (December 12) at Gallery Vercon on 332 East 9th Street in New York City! The show runs from 12 to 8 pm — call (212) 473-0506 for more info. Jackie will be showing scarves and pillows from her current collection, plus some additional pieces that will only be available at the show. But if you can't go, don't despair — for the month of December, Stone + Mann is offering automatism readers a 20% discount off of their order! All you need to do is use the coupon code on the Stone + Mann ad — Auto09 — at checkout. A perfect time to invest in a beautiful item like the stunning Etoile Wrap shown here!

Some exciting news from Christina of My Sparrow — she's just opened up an Etsy shop! Dedicated to limited edition and one of a kind jewelry, the Etsy version of My Sparrow already has a great selection of pretty necklaces. Shown above is the intriguing Maxine Necklace, which features an antiqued brass square chain with smokey topaz detail. Have a look at more unique and lovely jewelry here.

Good news! Estefania of Puerta Sur has a sale on selected items in her shop right now, which means it's a perfect time to pick up a lovely piece of artisanal silver jewelry — or a cosy handmade pashmina shawl for chilly winter evenings like the one shown here, all from Estefania's native Argentina. Indulge someone you love — or treat yourself to a little holiday good cheer!

Aneta of Bobbin Talk has a fun new venture — she's started a YouTube channel! Why not take a break from the hectic round of shopping, wrapping and family visits and check out the Finger Burning Glass-Jewelry Making Project for some inspiring fun?

Wondering what to get for your husband, brother or partner this holiday season? How about something that they can appreciate for many years to come — art. This wonderful Valiant print by Kareem of The Suitcase would be a perfect start to a collection, and is available in two sizes. You can see more of Kareem's work this month at Retrospect Galleries in Byron Bay, Australia, in the In Retrospect book and in Issue 1 of Forth Thread magazine, too.

Among the lovely new items in Ayse's EQArt Jewelry shop is this strikingly beautiful pair of ammonite fossil earrings. Measuring 7 cm in length and set in fine silver bezels soldered with pretty hand forged hooks, these dramatic earrings would make a holiday outfit extra special — or even a simple tee and jeans.
