This beautiful interior is by the designer Stephen Shubel, whom I discovered on the utterly gorgeous trouvais blog. Have a look at his website for more antiques-inspired loveliness. I love the framed antique collars on the wall!
The always fascinating BibliOdyssey has a great post about the lovely original illustrations by E.H. Shepard for Kenneth Grahame's classic children's story The Wind in the Willows. I particularly love how the creatures portrayed are so true to their respective natures, and yet have such distinctive personalities (unlike the bland cartoonish styles so apt to be used when illustrating animals for children's books). One of my favourite books as a child — and well worth a reread now, too. See more of the illustrations here.
Lovely Victoria of sfgirlbybay is having a sale from now until the end of July on her iconic Keep Calm and Carry On posters, in honour of being featured in The New York Times. Visit her shop here to get your very own — in a whole range of great colours, too. Congrats, Victoria!
By day (or, depending on the deadline, by night) I'm a Canadian collage illustrator. Since 2006, the automatism blog is where I share whatever I find inspiring, interesting, or simply beautiful in interiors, design, art, illustration and other creative fields.
