Simple Pleasures

Shopping locally. There's just no comparison between shopping at a big box store and shopping in a small locally owned store or farmer's market. Do support your local businesses as much as you can. Photograph of a small shop in Montresor, France by Susie on Flickr, via Artemis Lives on weheartit.

I know! I just discovered a lovely interior decoration shop that also carries eco friendly and vintage stuff. The prices and descriptions are typed with an old typewriter on library cards next to each item. Sadly, it looks like the shop's not making it...

Cannot agree more. Worth spending way more for it!

@TheDecoDetective... that is so sad. I try to support those type of business's but more and more I see a lot of them closing.

I could spend a day just walking through unique little boutiques. It's always so nice when guests don't recognize where things came from.

Timely/great suggestion Lori. It would be fun to highlight the small "local talent" of our individual areas ...must remember to bring my camera more often...

Lori,

I am interested in how you got your ads up on your blog. I'm trying to do that, but with not much success. Do you use a certain program like Project Wonderful?

Micaela

Hi Micaela,

I actually commissioned a wonderful web designer to tweak my blog layout so I could add stuff in the left column more elegantly. If you'd like more details and/or contact info, email me!

i totally, totally agree. i love knowing where ingredients come from -- especially after watching King Corn (the documentary) -- i was so freaked out! and some restaurants near us even list local farmers, dairies, etc on their menus. i love that. thanks for this great post and reminder. xoxo joanna
