John Hanna Covers

Love these striking magazine covers for Country Fair magazine by John Hanna, whose work I discovered on a great uppercase post. Curious to know more about the illustrator, I did a little Google detective work and discovered here and here that Hanna was an Australian who arrived in London in 1947, making his living as a commercial artist and cartoonist there until 1962. During his time in London he created over 50 covers for Country Fair alone, so with a bit of luck we'll someday see lots more of his beautiful work. Images from Full Table and Asbury & Asbury, via uppercase.

Oh, sweet. I'm drawn to the duck, the pig and the terrier. Thanks, Lori!

It's almost unnecessary to say, but these are excellent! Just the right touch of humour, and even though they're rustic, I think they're still very delicate because of the detailed textures.
