I had no idea that Fortune magazine was designing such adventurous (and at times surreal) covers in its earlier days — what a wonderful revelation. I love how colourful and imaginative these illustrations are. More great early Fortune covers here. From but does it float, via things magazine.

I love these covers. They must have been quite innovative in their day and the designs still stand up now infact are probably better than a lot of the hashed out mag covers I see all the time.
