Archive: An Enchanted Garden

If you gaze out of the window of a Renaissance chateau in Ambleville, just a few kilometres away from Giverny, France, this extraordinary garden is what you will see. Designed in the Italianate manner, it draws inspiration from numerous Italian sources ranging from a 16th century fresco in the Villa Borghese to Gamberaia, a Renaissance garden in Florence. Lovely in all seasons, it is in winter that it acquires an otherworldly beauty, a frozen enchantment awaiting the warmth of spring. Scanned from a vintage copy of Marie Claire Maison.

Do you have any more information on where this is located? I can't seem to find it online, only a Chateau d'Ambleville which doesn't seem to be the same place.

Sorry, Leila — that's all the information given in the article in Marie Claire Maison. If it's a privately owned place, they'll often not give too many details about the location in order to preserve the privacy of the owners. We'll just have to make do with this tantalizing glimpse!
