I was browsing Illustration Friday yesterday and was happy to find a great interview with illustrator extraordinaire Yuko Shimizu from a few months back. I really admire her beautiful work. Be sure to have a look at Yuko's website, too.

Wonderful work, so modern yet inspired by great Japanese art (the famous wave picture...)!
BTW, I recently read Miss Pettigrew; isn't it a fun book?
Totally agree, rivermist and mary-laure, about the great blend of old and new in Yuko's work!
And mary-laure -- I just finished Miss Pettigrew and loved it! Utterly charming.
