All of these fantastic album covers are from Sleevage, a great blog devoted to album cover design. If you like what you see here, be sure to check out the site, as there's lots more to see -- plus great commentary on the history of these designs, too. I own a couple of these, actually -- New Order and Massive Attack. Via ffffound.
From top to bottom: Editors, An End Has a Start; Massive Attack, Mezzanine; New Order, Waiting for the Siren's Call; Underworld, Oblivion With Bells; Lee Morgan, The Rumproller; The Decemberists, The Crane Wife.

I cannot think of his name, but the guy that did all the older New Order record covers is amazing, a personal favorite of mine.
wow, love them all. i'm really going to be upset if we eventually go completely digital -- they better still make cover art for our ipods! :)
Stacy -- definitely agree that Peter Saville's earlier New Order covers were amazing. You can see his website here, incidentally:

And Jessie, I'm with you on cover design! After the huge canvas offered by vinyl record covers, the CD jewel box format seems so limited to me. Hope there'll still be something in the future, too!
