Michael Bierut of the Design Observer blog has an enthusiastic
review of a new book about Doyle Dane Bernbach's Helmut Krone, probably best known for the Volkswagen "Think Small" campaign. The book,
Graphic Design and Art Direction (concept, form and meaning) after advertising's Creative Revolution, by Clive Challis and Helmut Krone, looks like a good one. The work on the left, featuring a hypnotic Salvador Dali, is from a print advertisement for Polaroid (copy by William Casey, photograph by Bert Stern, art direction by Helmut Krone, Doyle Dane Bernbach, 1958).
